Off-Campus Internships
Once a student has successfully progressed through his or her On-Campus Internship, the student moves on to an Off-Campus Internship arranged and monitored by the teaching staff. Off-Campus Internships provide an invaluable opportunity for New Road students to gain firsthand experience in a field of study of interest to them, so that they can determine if they have a particular aptitude in this area and start creating a network of contacts for future pursuits.
Our Off-Campus Internships emphasize education rather than merely employment, making them quite similar in nature to apprenticeships. To provide this singular kind of exposure and experience, the New Road School of Somerset partners with local businesses in the community that support our goals and work with us to provide students with employment during school hours. Students participating in Off-Campus Internships work off-site one to three times per week and are assigned a Job Coach who offers guidance, reinforcement, and encouragement.
