On Saturday, February 9, some New Road School students from the Parlin School and staff traveled to Rutgers University to see the Scarlet Knights Men’s Basketball team play Cincinnati. Students on Gold-level were rewarded with this trip because of their exemplary behavior during school.
The night began with a pizza party at New Road before boarding a school bus to the game. After climbing to their seats at the top of the Rutgers Athletic Center, the students waited eagerly for the start of the game. When the National Anthem began, the students put their hands over their hearts and proudly sang along.
Cincinnati being a good team, kept the game competitive. The stadium was alive with shouting and stamping of feet. The score went back and forth and at the final buzzer the score was tied! Rutgers wound up losing in overtime 72 to 68. Back on the bus the students headed back to the school where their parents waited anxiously for their return.
