Behavioral Interventions

At New Road, one of our main goals is to promote positive behaviors in our students. The schools share the philosophy that by promoting positive behaviors in the school setting, students will concurrently increase their academic learning potential and acquire valuable skills that will serve them well in becoming accountable and active members of society.

We also believe that academic achievement stems from a positive attitude toward education. So our teachers work with the students to help build attitudes conducive to learning, including confidence, competence, motivation and high self-esteem. The New Road Schools are committed to increasing positive behaviors that will heighten students' potential for success in school, at home and in the community.

Teachers reward students for positive behaviors and academic achievement through a variety of rewards and incentives specifically designed to promote positive behaviors in the school environment while discouraging negative behaviors and attitudes. This system not only rewards students for appropriate actions and applied skills, but it works very well with students who may be having difficulties in this area, for they see their fellow students earning rewards for positive, healthy behaviors and are often motivated to do the same.

“My child responded so well to the school’s behavior system that we implemented a similar system at home. It has really helped to make life easier for our whole family.”
