School Store
Each New Road School hosts a School Store on its premises that is run by the students in our vocational programs. Fellow students at each campus have the opportunity to spend the school money they've earned through our behavioral system on any of the goods and services offered, such as, books, games, gift certificates, movie tickets, food items and customized products.
The vocational students who run the store are responsible for every aspect of its operation. They help choose the product lines, ring up sales, and plan the marketing and advertising for the store. Many personalized products sold in the store are made by the students in our vocational programs. The School Store helps students practice their vocational skills in a simulated real-world environment while providing a valuable reinforcement to positive behavior.
Our largest School Store at Somerset is actually more of a mall than a store. The Somerset site holds over 35 different retail locations including service-oriented businesses, restaurants, health facilities and consumer shops housed within colorful and inviting stores.
